Luck is described as the success or failure brought on by chance rather than through one’s own actions.
Fate is described as the development of events beyond one’s control, as determined by some supernatural power.
Destiny is described as the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future. It’s also described as meaning that someone, somewhere was made for you.
Some believe in luck, fate and destiny while others believe that their actions determine their fate. I personally believe in all three. If I find money or win a contest, yes, I would call that good luck, pretty simple.
Fate and destiny are a little more intricate. While I believe in each of these I also believe you can change either one with your actions, and not necessarily for the good. It may be your destiny to become a doctor, but if you make bad life choices for yourself, this destiny may never become a reality. Think about this…What if your future “doctor self” was meant to become a doctor so that you’d be at a certain place at a certain time so that you could save someone’s life? If you deny that pull towards your destiny and take your life in a different direction, that person you were meant to save in the future is pretty much out of luck. This may seem a little far fetched, and maybe it is, but the question still remains…What if there is such a thing?
Some of you may find this a little silly but I swear it’s true. When T and I met we both felt an instant connection and pull towards each other that has been and will always remain undeniable. Neither one of us can explain it but we both know that for whatever reason, we are meant to be together.
I’m a firm believer in the saying “everything happens for a reason” and I honestly feel, for whatever reason, she and I were destined to meet all those years ago. I find myself sometimes wondering why? What’s the purpose? Why are we so forcefully drawn to one another? Will we ever know?
It’s sort of like the Twilight movie series. Yeah I know, teenager silliness but think about it. Bella knew she was in love with Edward but for some unexplainable reason, she and Jacob were drawn to each other by forces so strong neither one of them could deny it. In the end we find out that Jacob was meant to be Renesme’s (Edward and Bellas daughter) companion, friend and protector. Yes I’m well aware that this is fiction but it’s a great example of destiny and the power that it holds.
What are your thoughts? Are you a believer or do you believe you create your own destiny?
Until next time…Trulyhers
